How to make
baby sleep? The most important and obvious way is to meet the basic needs of
the baby like feeding, changing and of course hugging. If you took care of
those needs but your baby is still crying, there are few ways to put him/her to
sleep.
Main reasons why babies can’t sleep
and cry:
-they are hungry
-the diaper is wet
-they had too many experiences
during the day
-they lack closeness
First of all, parents have to meet
those need: feed their baby, change a diaper, calm them down and hug them.
However, if meeting those basic needs is not enough, you can try few other
ways.
One way to make babies sleep is to
wrap them in a blanket or sheet. In such a “cocoon” the child feels safe and is
more likely to fall asleep quietly.
Another way to put babies to sleep
is holding them in your arms and swinging. If the baby is too heavy to hold it
in arm for a long time, parents can use a bouncer, rocker or swinger.
Parents can also try singing a
lullaby or whispering. It’s a good way to calm the baby and make it sleep.
Sometimes the reason of infants’
crying and insomnia is a colic. Some parents practice special belly massages, warm
compresses to the baby's tummy, swinging or… driving a car with baby in an
infant car seat. But unfortunately, the is no prescription for baby colic.
Of course there are also soother, which
can be very effective way to put baby to sleep. Sucking calms the baby – not
only infant, but also toddlers!
Some of parents prefer more
traditional way to make baby sleep. They just sleep with their baby. When the
baby feels the closeness and warmth of parents, it calms down and often fall
asleep immediately. Co-sleeping is also very useful for moms who are
breastfeeding, because they don’t have to get up at night to feed the baby.
