Cybex Priam and Cybex Mios - Reviews & Comparison

The Cybex Priam and Cybex Mios 2019 strollers are a standout in the world of luxurious pushchairs. Boasting German engineering and a retro-modern style, these 2 travel solutions bring a sophisticated design and smart functionalities galore that make them simply irresistible for urban mobility.

Either of these models will accommodate your child until he/she is 55 pounds. Their elegant design also makes them a perfect buy if you are looking for something different from the strollers you constantly see on the streets.
But which is better, the Cybex Priam or Cybex Mios?
In this Cybex Priam vs Cybex Mios comparison, we’ll take a closer look at each of these strollers highlighting their similarities and major differences to help you determine which model will meet your needs and those of your baby best.

Cybex Priam 3 Review
Cybex Priam Stroller
Cybex Priam

4-in-1 stroller
The Priam was Cybex’ first luxury stroller and it has a lot to justify its premium price tag. This is a 4-in-1 unit that can be fitted with up to 4 different attachments to meet your little rider’s exact demands depending on age: Lux Carry Cot, Lite Cot, Cybex car seat, or its regular seat.
The Lux Carrycot and Lite cot can be used right from birth up to around 20 pounds (6 months). Incredibly, you can continue to use the Lite Cot to protect your child from chilly winds up to around the 4th birthday.
Seat
In this 2019 model, Cybex decided to offer the seat in a single-mode design, unlike the 2018 version that could convert into a bassinet.
All in all, the seat - which accommodates 3+ months toddlers - is roomy and nicely cushioned to create a comfortable resting place during travels. To be precise, the seat is 13’’ wide and has a 23’’ seatback. There are around 4 additional inches from the top of the seatback to the top of the canopy which further increases the roomy interior.
An important highlight to note in this Cybex Priam review is that this stroller’s seat has been positioned slightly higher to bring the child at table level in restaurants and cafes. Not most high-end stroller manufacturers put this into consideration - so kudos to Cybex.
While we are still at it, you can reverse the seat to either face you or face the world. In this year’s model, the seat can only recline to 3 levels.
The lie-flat position that made the 2018 Cybex Priam suitable for newborns has been scrapped probably due to the changing stroller regulations. However, the 150-degree recline angle which is the most flat with the new Cybex Priam stroller still offers a very comfortable bed-like environment for napping for babies above 3 months.
This seat is made complete by an adjustable leg rest, large canopy with a peek-a-boo window, and a luxurious faux leather bumper bar that is both swing-away and removable.
Seat and canopy fabrics and colors
While its predecessor used textured denim-like fabrics, the 2019 Cybex Priam stroller has a smoother look and feel.
But what’s more is that you can get this stroller in a range of 5 bright colors: True Red, Manhattan Grey, Fancy Pink, Indigo Blue, and Premium Black. If you are looking for something neutral, the plus collection has 3 additional colors to choose from: Manhattan Grey Plus, Midnight Blue Plus, and Stardust Black Plus.
Frame choices and customization
With the new Priam stroller, Cybex also offers several more options in terms of frame choices. You can choose from Rose Gold (my favorite), Matte Black, Chrome/Brown, and Chrome/Black.
Keep in mind that you can fully customize your Cybex Priam 3 stroller 2019 by choosing your favorite seat and canopy fabric color and frame finish combination.
Maneuverability
Concerning ease of maneuverability, the Priam has an easily adjustable handlebar that comfortably suits both tall and short partners. It also has all-terrain, never-flat wheels that make pushing in varying terrains an easy task. There’s also an all-wheel suspension system to smooth out bumpy rides and a strappy sandal-friendly flip flop rear brake pedal for stopping.
Another key feature that I can’t fail to mention in this 2019 Cybex Priam stroller review is the dual-wheel mode that makes it easy to pull the child behind you on the large wheels only. This functionality makes life super easy on sandy beaches and when climbing up and down stairs.
Folding & Weight
The Cybex Priam stroller weighs approximately 28.1 pounds. It measures 37.4 in (L) x 23.6 in (W) x 15.7 in (H) when folded.

Cybex Mios Stroller Review
Cybex Mios 2019
Cybex Mios

The updated Cybex Mios 2019 stroller oozes style while promising to be a reliable companion as you glide through the urban bustle.
Seat and compatible attachments
Similar to its brother, the Priam 3, the Mios features a reversible seat that converts from forward-facing to parent-facing for bonding on the go.
Also, the seat can recline to 4 different positions with a simple one-handed lever. This functionality coupled with the 3-position recline leg rest promises optimum comfort for the baby both when awake and during long naps.
The fully reclining seat makes this stroller a go-to if you want to use it right from birth. On the same note, you can convert it into a pram by attaching the Luxury Carry Cot or Lite, both which are sold separately.
For parents and caregivers who are regularly flying with baby, you’ll need to purchase the Cybex or GB car seat as only these 2 brands are compatible with this stroller.
Heat control
Something that most previous buyers can’t stop raving about in pretty much any Cybex Mios stroller review is the climate control design used for the seat. The seatback features a padded comfort inlay that keeps the baby comfortably warm on cooler days.
When the temperature peaks, this padding can be removed to reveal a breathable mesh seat back unit. The large canopy that extends past the bumper bar also has additional mesh detailing to further reduce the baby’s heat development.
Wheels and maneuverability
The Cybex Mios stroller 2019 is mainly designed for city life as its 5.9’’ front foam wheels and 6.4’’ rear foam wheels depict. Good thing, though, the Mios has a full wheel suspension system which together with the 180-degree swiveling front wheels - which can be locked in place - will cushion the baby a little bit on soft, uneven terrains.
Another key highlight in this Cybex Mios review is the adjustable handlebar that telescopes from 38’’ to 42’’. So both mom and dad will get a comfortable height for easy pushing. This handlebar also has a leather padding that feels luxurious and soft to touch besides giving the stroller an impressive dash of style.
Brakes
Braking on the Cybex Mios is by a large pedal fixated on the rear axle. Just as you’d expect of a model that is hailed as one of the best strollers for 2019, this pedal is flip-flop friendly and, therefore, won’t scratch on your shoes.
Folding & Weight
This stroller folds to 29.5” (L) x 19.7” (W) x 13” (H) using one hand. It’s also adds to our collection of the lightweight everyday strollers with its mere 21.6 lbs weight. As you can see Mios is not only much lighter, but also much more compact than Priam.
Cybex Priam vs Cybex Mios: Similarities
Design and Available colors
If I were to rate the Cybex Priam and Cybex Mios on design, I would give them 10/10. Everything about them is beautiful from the frame to the SPF 50+ canopy. The attention to detail on stitches give the strollers a gorgeous appearance too besides signaling the thoughtfulness that went into the design.
The 2019 models of these strollers come in similar color options which all look gorgeous.
Roomy and Reversible seats
These strollers’ seats are a clear indication that they are meant for a growing child. They are both nicely padded and have an easy-to-use safety strap system with a leatherette buckle.
What I find so impressive, however, is the ability to reverse the seats so the baby either faces you or the world. All works very smoothly. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.
In addition, the ability to recline the seat to different positions using a single level is a huge plus (see differences on number of recline positions).
Compatible Attachments
The Cybex Priam 2019 and Cybex Mios can be converted into a pram by attaching the Lux Carry Cot or Lite cot. You could also use a Cybex car seat (the Mios accepts GB car seats too).
Also, there are a whole lot of other accessories that you can add to either of these strollers including the Platinum footmuff, platinum snack tray, cup holder, and parasol. Several other attachments are compatible with the Priam only, though.
XXL Sun Canopy
These Cybex strollers also have extra-large canopies that extend to the bumper bar for optimum protection from the elements.
Adjustable handlebars and bumper bars
The handlebars are both adjustable to fit tall and short parents (see differences, though) and the bumper bar can be swung away or removed altogether.
Extra-large shopping basket
These strollers have plenty of storage for up to 11 lbs worth of shopping. These under-seat baskets are also spacious enough to accommodate a large diaper bag.

Cybex Priam and Cybex Mios: Differences
Size and weight
The Cybex Priam is notably bulkier compared to the Mios. The Priam is also noticeably heavier, at 28.1 lbs compared to the 21.6 lbs of the Mios. While the weight difference can be overlooked, the overall size of the stroller when opened and collapsed will matter a lot when navigating narrow and crowded streets and when boarding trains and buses. It’s also worth considering if you are struggling with space in your car’s trunk.
Seat
As I mentioned in the 2019 Cybex Priam review, note that the Priam does not accommodate newborns unless you purchase the Lux Carrycot, Lite cot, or Cybex car seat. This is because its seat now allows only 3 recline angles. That of the Mios has 4 recline levels including lie-flat angle and can, therefore, be used with newborns.
Another notable difference in the seat is the height at which the baby sits with each of these strollers. The Priam has been designed to lift the kid to table height. This makes it easy to use it as a mobile seat for your child while in restaurants and cafes.
Wheels
Both the front and rear wheels of the Cybex Priam are notably larger than those of the Mios. As such, while these strollers are mainly meant for nicely paved and smooth city streets and pavements, the Priam might make your trips to the countryside a little bit easier.
Folding
The Cybex Priam and Cybex Mios 2019 strollers will easily fold into a compact size for easy storage. Also, they self-stand. The only difference, however, is that while the Cybex Mios autolocks when you fold it down, you’ll need to do this manually with the Priam.
2 wheel mode
This unique feature is only available with the Priam. In this mode, the front wheels tuck up into the larger rear wheels thereby converting the stroller into a sort of wheelbarrow. This mode makes it so easy to stroll in sandy beaches and climb up and down stairs without having to lift the entire thing.
Attachments
These strollers have a ton of attachments that you can add to them to make your strolls much fun. If you go with the Cybex Priam, however, you’ll have the option of adding skis and an older kid board - 2 of the attachments that the Mios does not support.

Which one is better- Cyber Priam vs Cyber Mios?
Well, both of these strollers are great in terms of feature and functionality. Your choice between them will boil down to your budget and exact needs.
The Mios - which is a few hundred bucks cheaper - might make a great purchase if you want a stroller that you can use right after birth. Also, it will interest you if you are looking for something lighter and compact for easy storage in a tight apartment or small car. If you’ve had enough trouble trying to fit your previous strollers in tight doorways and congested pavements, the Mios might be the way to go too.
If you have the budget, the new Cybex Priam 2019 stroller has a lot to go for. First, if you love discovering new restaurants and cafes, the table-height seat of this stroller means that bringing your baby to the table will be much easier without asking for additional furniture.
The Priam also reigns supreme with its large wheels which make it all-terrain albeit to some extent. Also, the 2-wheel mode will come in handy when walking along the beaches. It also makes climbing up and down a flight of stairs super breezy.
Also, if you have an older kid who’d love a ride on the stroller, the Priam offers the option to add a kid board. This will go a long way in making your family travels easy through busy cities and towns.
